@kluurs , I think I’ve seen this person’s videos before … one of those China perma-bull who is always positive on China. Not saying what he says is wrong, just skeptical that the guy may be shilling for China’s interests. That sort of “China good, China better” videos, many with Caucasian Westerners narrating on camera, are fairly common on YouTube (and many are repackaged from TikTok). Not saying they present falsehood (I haven’t invested the time to investigate), just that the way these things show up makes me suspect that there may be state organized propaganda efforts.

Maybe the Kremlin paid for the time slot? Everyone, including the Murdoch’s, have their price. Though I am sure the Murdoch’s are a real bargain to the Russians.

@Mik said in A massive blind taste test fed people real and vegan meats. It revealed something surprising.: There are some exceptions. A well-made black bean burger can be great. But that's not really trying to fool the diner. You know it's black bean when you order it. Yeah, I don’t really consider that a fake meat. The same as a portabella burger…

For those who approve of the Trump administration's chainsaw vs. scalpel approach, I do not see how this can be justified. There's a difference between controlling our borders and cruelty through a combination of zealotry and sheer laziness.

@taiwan_girl said in Walmart Changes the Way They Do Geographic Delivery: As Walmart put it: “A household that might have previously been just beyond the delivery boundary, now can enjoy the same convenient service as their neighbors across the street.” This seems dumb. Any predefined delivery zone will have boundaries, ergo someone living across the street who is in a different zone.

@Mik said in Your next home might be printed: I hope they last too. Like the idea and it will use a lot less lumber. But lumber is one of the easiest replenishable materials. The composites the 3d printers are using is not.

College and pro athletics have always been ridiculous. While the NIL is ridiculous, it’s also ridiculous for 300lb kids getting suspended because they were late from practice and missed dinner so a cafeteria worker put together a plate of cold cut sandwiches… In the meantime, the NCAA and the university are pocketing hundreds of billions… I’ve always been shocked by the drafts… Imagine graduating with an a Law Degree and rather than applying for particular jobs and firms that suit your desires, instead you are put into a pool where various firms come and select you. And they select you in order from worst to best… In other words, the worst firms get first choice. And you have no say in the matter… It’s patently ridiculous on many levels.

General Motors’ (GM.N), opens new tab Buick was on a roll. Sales for the once-stodgy brand were up 39% in the first quarter with a refreshed lineup of compact SUVs including the Envision, Encore GX, and the Envista, its top-selling SUV for under $30,000. Then President Trump’s tariffs hit. Buick’s three most popular models are made outside the U.S. The Envista and Encore GX are both built in South Korea, while the Envision SUV is made in China. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/buick-finally-had-cars-americans-wanted-buy-then-came-tariffs-2025-04-19/

I’d split the difference probably. Like if I had 3 burners maybe place it in the middle and have the sides up higher. I’m NOT a pit master by any means but usually the indirect heat method (as you know) is because it’s a bigger slab of meat or is delicate and needs to be cooked more slowly and evenly.

Yeah Lorton. I used to play golf at the course there all the time, even the tee box markers are little watch towers. My buddy was the guy who designed the course actually. And funny enough, that DOJ spokesman guy who resigned, he wrote a very long article about the property, including what LD is talking about, as well as it was the location of Nike missile sites. Very interesting history there, big property too. In a way I’m glad they didn’t just bulldozer over everything.
